The first steps of Sever and LIHOLESIE are lost on the misty paths of the past. The first significant milestone was a cassette demo “The Eternal Call” released in 2002. That was that calling that the author of the project hears, sees and perceives everywhere. In the roaring of wind, in silence, the calling of his dear far-away, fields and grasses… 2 years later album “Primeval Rotation” was released on the Ural STYGIAN CRYPT. It presented listener the wheel of the seasons, year as the symbol of eternal reversion, the sacrament of rise and decline, death and birth. In 2005 follows “Vast Homeland” as a tribute to his native Siberia and spiritual mother Europe. Subtle ambient tunes enshrouding listener during museful walks and war hymns that fill dust of the epochs.
“Videniya” comes in 2007, it’s the last work of Liholesie for the current moment. Obscure, dim, hazy as if a dawn-dream but also crystal clear like a drink of the cold spring water. Visions. Thick dark ambient, mainly peaceful, thoughtful and melancholic. Like a halt in a train of intensive wanderings. Visions are followed by rethinking…
A new album was born in pain and anguish. Way and ritual. No sun-lit fringes of the forest and lovely flowery meadows. A bitter smell of withering grass, leaden October skies, grieving and an unquenchable thirst as if striving to devour horizon. “BOUNDLESS THIRST FOR THE OUTSIDE”.
The stylistic sweep is more than wide and the canvas can be very relatively defined as neofolk/industrial.
