NAV (Hell in Slavic mythology)

NAV was formed by Izbor in winter 7504. The first demo “From Nav to Jav” was recorded already in spring 7505. It was recorded with the following line-up: Izbor, Miron (FULL DECAY), Morok (OLD WAINDS).

From the outset, NAV was planned as a band with the complete line-up (and Izbor still hasn’t refused this idea), consisting of Izbor, Miron, Ratibor, but the latter preferred to devote himself to ZPP, and the former – to his brainchild, satanic death metal band FULL DECAY (by the way, part of music on the first demo was written by Miron).

Izbor remained alone, but in spite of that, not only he didn’t slow down, but even put on speed, continuing work alone. It’s worth mentioning, that for all his great deal of work with NAV, Izbor is a session drummer in OLD WAINDS, FULL DECAY (on the first demo) and also he got offers from MOR and BLACKDEATH from S.-Petersburg. Two last offers were declined.

Only half a year passed since the recording of the first demo, and Izbor wrote material for the second. “A Hymn to Cold Silence” appeared in winter 7505. OLD WAINDS musicians, Morok and Kull, helped him on that album (that time, all music and lyrics by Izbor).

“Halls of Death” was recorded in 2003 and released in 2004 by the German label MIRIQUIDI Prod. on CD, as well as “A Hymn to Cold Silence” that came out as the split-album with OLD WAINDS. A year later, a vinyl edition of “Halls of Death” came out on the American label FOREVER PLAGUED Prod., and in summer 2007 the album was remastered and reissued again by ASSAULT REX.
Presently, dwellers of the NAV are: Izbor- drums/vocals, Gorud – guitar and Ratec – bass.

This May the long-expected album “Wolf’s Sun” has finally appeared, which was released by American FOREVER PLAGUED Rec. on CD  and it will be put out on vinyl during the summer.
It is the most deliberate and ambiguous band’s work, which absorbed all echoes of the earliest fury and heritage of 80s to the full. NAV had made a great step and placed a new limit for themselves and others.
The long-awaited new edition of remastered demo records  “From Nav to Jav” and “Hymn to the Cold Silence”. It will be our chance to comprehend the past and to remember what NAV was like until  these days.
